Privacy & Disclosures

TMD Spec Review is an independent, one-person appliance resource. The short version: this site collects as little as possible, sells nothing about you, and tells you plainly how it makes money.

What this site collects

Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools people find useful: things like pages visited, rough location (city level), device type, and how you arrived. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. Google sets cookies to make this work; you can opt out with Google's own browser add-on, and Google's practices are described in its privacy policy.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is stored on this site's own server, is used only to send the newsletter, and is never sold, rented, or shared. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you.

The fit tools and your package. Measurements you type into the calculators and the models you save to My Package stay in your own browser (local storage). They are not sent to this server or anywhere else. Clearing your browser data clears them. If you choose to email yourself your package, the address is used for that one send.

Server logs. Like nearly every website, the server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting, rotated out routinely.

That is the whole list on this site's own behalf. There are no accounts and no profiles, and the one meaningful exception is advertising, covered next.

How this site makes money

Affiliate links. Some links to retailers are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays this site a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or its affiliate network (such as CJ, Impact, or FlexOffers) may set cookies in your browser to attribute the sale; those cookies belong to them and are governed by their policies.

Display ads. To keep the tools free, this site shows (or will show) banner ads served by a third-party advertising network. Ad networks use cookies and similar technologies of their own to serve ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure performance, and, where permitted, personalize what you see; that tracking belongs to the ad network and its partners, not to this site, and is governed by their policies. You can limit personalized advertising through your browser settings and the industry opt-out pages at aboutads.info and networkadvertising.org. Where required, a consent prompt from the ad network will ask before any of that happens. One boundary that does not move: advertisers never receive your newsletter address or anything you type into the tools; those stay where this page says they stay.

Two commitments on top of the legal requirement: nothing is listed because it pays. Models are recommended because I would sell them to my own family, and the recommendation engine has no knowledge of commission rates. And sponsored content is not accepted; if that ever changed, it would be labeled in the open.

Children

This site is about buying appliances and is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If data practices here ever change, this page changes with them, with the effective date above updated.
