Why I built this
I started TMD Spec Review to put the knowledge that used to live behind a sales counter out in the open. The core idea is simple: I don't sell you the appliance, so I have no reason to oversell you. I just explain what I'd tell my own family before they bought, and give you tools that tell you what actually fits your kitchen.
What makes the list
This site is not a catalog, and it is not trying to be. You won't find every appliance on the market here. Every model I list is one I would sell to a friend or buy for my own kitchen, based on a decade of watching what holds up, what gets serviced, and what people regret. If I wouldn't stand behind a unit, it doesn't appear, no matter how popular it is.
The price tiers follow the same rule. Budget here doesn't mean the cheapest thing you can buy; it means the least expensive unit I'd still put my name on. There's a floor below which I've simply seen too many service calls, and nothing under that floor makes the list.
When I recommend a specific model, some of those links are affiliate links, which is how the site keeps the lights on. It never changes your price, and nothing gets listed because it pays a commission.
